American Revolution - Economic
In response to the Boston Tea Party events were put in place to punish the colonists. Even thought he events were done in Boston, all of the colonies were to suffer for it. a series of cruel acts were put in place, and they later became known as the Intolerable Acts. These acts included the Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justice Act, Quartering Act, and the Quebec Act. Out of these, the worst one for the economy was the Boston Port Act. This closed the port of Boston from all ships no matter what their business until all the expenses of the destroyed merchandise of the Boston Tea Party was paid back. Considering that this port was used for trade to other countries and all around the colonies this seriously hurt the economy of Massachusetts and places that depended on it. The colonies as far south as South Carolina sent relief supplies to the settlers of Massachusetts and this was the first step in the unification of the 13 colonies.
