American Revolution - social
Guerrilla warfare to our enemies was a form of terrorism. During this time the code of the army had a few "gentleman's rules", if you will. This included fighting head on, in lines, taking turns firing at each other. While one side was firing, the other line was reloading and hoping not to die. The other thing was that you were never supposed to kill the general of the other army, especially on purpose. Generals and higher ups of the such were not supposed to be targeted. Well during the revolution fighting this way would not have worked for the Americans, so we, essentially, became "terrorists". We were the first to hide in the woods and when we get a chance, jump out and begin firing on the enemy, starting with the highest rank up and working our way down. Killing the General would startle the rest of them and "throw them off their game". The use of these tactics are what allowed us to win the bloody war and gain our freedom. Even if it did make us look like terrorists...
